The Irish have always been great tea drinkers. They drink their tea brewed very strong. In fact, there is a common saying among the Irish that a proper cup of tea should be ''''strong enough for a mouse to trot on''''. Irish Breakfast, with its robust flavor, is usually enjoyed only in the morning (except for the Irish who drink it all day). Usually it is blended with an Assam tea base. Assam is a district in northeastern India that lies on the Indian-Burmese border. It produces more black tea than any other area on earth, with the probable exception of a few places in China. Assam’s tea gardens cover some four hundred thousand acres of verdant rolling plains on both sides of the mighty Brahmaputra River. Assam is proof that not all fine quality tea has to be high grown. This rainy valley is the birthplace of Indian tea. Robert Bruce discovered the plant growing wild here in 1823, and the first commercial lot of tea ever produced outside of China--eight chests in all--came from Assam in 1839. For our Irish breakfast tea, we use high quality, full bodied, robust Assam teas. The resulting blend is a dark brown tippy leaf that brews up a deep red liquor that is hearty, malty and rich in flavor. This tea is delicious with milk and sugar.

This is Frontier’s double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. The major Black Tea types, from the traditional black tea evergeen (Camellia sinensis), classified according to processing method, include: fermented, or black, tea, producing an amber-coloured, full-flavoured beverage without bitterness; semi-fermented, or oolong, producing a slightly bitter, light brownish-green liquid; and unfermented, or green, tea, resulting in a mild, slightly bitter, pale greenish-yellow beverage. Tea contains only four calories per cup when consumed without added ingredients but is a source of several B-complex vitamins, including B2 and nicotinic acid. Caffeine is responsible for tea's stimulating effect. Flavour is produced by volatile oils, and astringency and colour by tannin. Teas are classified according to region of origin, as in China, Ceylon, Japanese, Indonesian, and African tea, or by smaller district, as in Darjeeling, Assam, and Nilgris from India, Uva and Dimbula from Sri Lanka, Keemun from Chi-men in China's Anhwei Province, and Enshu from Japan. Fusion Breakfast Green & Black Tea with Matcha 18 tea bags: K

$3.23

Premium green and black teas with added Matcha makes this an especially enjoyable morning tea. The caffeine in the green and black teas provides a welcome, not jittery, start to the day. The addition of Matcha, the special green tea used in the Japanese tea ceremony, also boosts the antioxidants in this tea. True ''teas'' are made from the dried leaves of the Camellia sinensis, the tea plant, which was first cultivated in China and found growing wild in India. Chinese monks and European traders introduced it to Japan, Sri Lanka and other countries. Green teas are steamed fresh from the garden, preserving color and natural flavor and leaving them rich in antioxidants. Since 1972, Stash has been committed to providing premium quality teas and an unsurpassed tea drinking experience. Stash begins with simply excellent tea leaves from the world's premier tea gardens and all natural botanical ingredients gathered from around the world. Meticulous blending and tasting of every tea ensures you will enjoy full flavor in every cup.

Breakfast Blend Organic Black Tea, Box of 18 foil wrap tea bags: K

Breakfast Blend Organic Black Tea, Box of 18 foil wrap tea bags: K

$3.64

For our organic Breakfast blend tea, we combine flavorful Ceylon from Sri Lanka and full - bodied, dark Indian Assam for a rich and invigorating blend. Ceylon, or its contemporary name, Sri Lanka, is a beautiful tropical island about the size of England and lies just 22 miles off the southern tip of India. Sri Lanka supplies about 25% of the world''s tea. The nearly six hundred thousand acres of tea under cultivation provide well over half of the island''s export earnings. Sri Lanka is divided by a chain of mountains. The East side of the mountains is the Uva region and the West side is the Dimbulla region, each producing teas renowned for their distinct character and flavor. Our Organic Ceylon is from the Dimbulla region which has tea estates at elevations of 5000 to 6000 feet and seasonal monsoons. Dimbulla was one of the first areas planted in the 1870s after tea took the place of coffee. The teas are harvested December through February. Dry winds coupled with bright days and cold nights contribute to this aromatic and flavorful tea. This tea is characterized by long, chestnut colored leaves and rich taste. Assam, the birthplace of Indian tea, is the largest tea growing area in the world, with more than 2000 tea gardens. The Assam valley lies 120 miles east of Darjeeling, on the border with China, Burma and Bangladesh. The mighty Brahmaputra river weaves its impressive path through the vast rolling plains of the verdant Assam valley. The climate, the rich soil, and the indigenous tea plants give Assam teas their characteristic strong, full-bodied taste and liquor. Our Organic Assam Black tea comes from the Sewpur Tea Estate in the Tinsukia district of Assam. Sewpur began producing tea in 1906 and now produces 100 metric tons of Organic tea each year. This tea has distinctive malty flavor, full-body and a warm, reddish brown color in the cup. Both teas selected for our Organic Breakfast blend are certified by the renowned ''''Institute for MarketEcology'''' in Switzerland, which is an IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) member, recognized worldwide. Stash Tea is certified organic by Quality Assurance International. QAI is a professional organic certification service that is internationally recognized. QAI''s program is designed to certify every step of the organic chain - from the land on which the product is grown, to the growers, to the post harvest facilities and the final processing and handling facilities. Such diligence provides assurance that the end product is indeed organic and that it complies with state, provincial, national and international organic standards. Products which carry the QAI certification seal convey the confidence of an unbroken ''''chain of custody'''' that all materials and processes have been individually certified as organic. .
