Joyce, who was under the training of a goldsmith during his slavery, was able to make a ring that he gave to his love when he was released. They were married thereafter and Joyce made a shop where he made rings that he engraved with his initials.
- The Celtic Knot. The Celtic knot is quite well known when it comes to Celtic wedding bands because it is a very famous symbol that can be seen in old Celtic artworks. The knotwork that can be seen in most of these artworks and on the rings are said to represent everlasting life because it shows a cycle that has no beginning and no end.
- The Trinity Knot. There are also a number of representations to the Celtic knot that is commonly used in Celtic wedding bands. One of these is the Trinity Knot, which has three points that have a triangular interconnection. There is both Celtic and Christian symbolism to this knotwork. For the Celts, it represents the Triple Gods and Goddesses of their ancestors, while for the Christians, it stands for the Holy Trinity. Also known as the Love Knot, the Trinity Knot in Celtic wedding bands are said to symbolize eternal life, everlasting love, and spiritual growth.
- The Triskele. Another pattern commonly used in Celtic wedding bands is the Triskele, which is made up of three spirals that are interlocked with each other. There are a number of symbolizations for this pattern and these include reincarnation, fertility, the phases of the moon, and the three existential domains, which are creation, preservation, and destruction. Also representing love that never ends, the Triskele in silver or gold Celtic wedding bands can also have the initials of a couple on either side. If the initials are done on a Triskele ring, it is said to symbolize eternity and commitment.
