When the things we hold dear, our families and homeland, beliefs and religion come under attack, it is only natural to defend it. Throughout history, wars have been fought over theology, beliefs and religion. From the Hebrews in the Old Testament to the Crusades of the Middle Ages, many have died trying to defend and advance their beliefs. In modern times, groups like Al Queda, the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Irish Republican Army claim to continue this "fight for justice." It is one thing to defend and stand up for that which is true and just, but exactly what is it that groups like these are fighting for? The answer to that question lies in one word, and one word only: hatred. Not injustice, not advancement of religion, simply hatred. They claim that some group has committed some great trespass against them and point to some "scriptural law" that dictates that the group should be punished, justifying violence and further hatred. They then use this as an excuse to purvey their hatred of that group and blow things up or fly airplanes into buildings. You get the general idea.
All political factions aside, many of us will choose a religion that suits our lifestyles. If we like to drink, we will chose a religion that condones alcohol. If we live a life full of violence, anger and hatred, we will choose a religion who's laws dictate that we do so. Wait a minute! Does that even sound right? How can we say that any religion condones hatred and violence? When we are doing things according to the laws of the religion, don't we say that we are doing them in the name of God? Isn't God a God of love? So, do we say that we hate in the name of love? Granted, many of the world's religions have laws that deal with transgressions and wrong doings, but that doesn't mean that we can contort those laws to fit our needs and push our hatred and anger onto others, especially when no wrong was committed. This in itself is a transgression. To take those laws out of context and use them to justify our own wrong doings is a flagrant perversion of God's intended message.
A lot of people in most of today's religions, Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, or otherwise, have some dead issue that they refuse to deal with. They simply look for some scripture or "law" that they can distort to justify their position of hatred and contempt and still claim that they are serving God. Well, my friend, If you are using God's Law as an excuse to hate and harm others, then it is not God you are serving. You can not bend God's Laws to fit your needs. You bend your needs to fit God's law. Whatever it is that you hate, get over it and stop taking it out on those that have nothing to do with it. The world has enough terrorists. It doesn't need your help.
