Top Tourist Attractions in Northern Ireland
Summer is a fantastic time to visit Northern Ireland. As the springtime weather begins to clear up and tourists and locals alike get set to enjoy a brief respite from the otherwise traditionally gloomy British weather, Northern Ireland comes alive with summer activities. But even if the weather doesn't seem so appealing, don't let a spot of rain put you off! Northern Ireland is a country that both welcomes visitors to enjoy its sunny summer days while also inviting them into a friendly pub for a drink or two on those less pleasant ones, meaning you can rest assured a good time is never far away when you visit this fun and colourful country.
Wherever you're heading in Northern Ireland, you can be sure that a good time is never too far away. And, in summer, plenty of excellent events and festivals occur that will have you easily filling up your time when you're not exploring Belfast's best bars! For example, you can take to the ocean on one of the summer fun cruises, which leave from Belfast and take tourists on an exciting trip across the waves to Stranraer. Many of the cruises have themes which can add that little bit extra to them, from family fun themes to a Vegas Casino Cruise - or even the practical Learn to Use Your Laptop Cruise.
Once you're back on land, it's time to head into Newtownards to take in the latest exhibition at the Exploris Aquarium, which is an excellent attraction in itself. Constantly working towards improving the educational aspect of its offerings, the aquarium offers a fascinating insight into local fish and aquatic plant life, as well as more international exhibits too.
Festival fans will enjoy a variety of events during summer, from the Dungannon Arts Festival and the Willowstone Arts and Music Festival to the Sea Bangor Festival and - a sure favourite - the Belfast Taste and Music Fest.
Northern Ireland is also famed for its rugged countryside and a visit to this unique country isn't complete without a road trip around the coast. Rent a car and get exploring, stopping at the small towns and villages dotted around the Northern Irish coast in order to explore, work on your tan or, possibly more likely, escape from the rain before heading back to the capital city to spend a comfortable night in one of the Belfast hotels. Once you're rested up and refreshed the next day, head out for an Ulster Fry for breakfast before another excellent day of exploration, sightseeing and getting to know some of the friendliest locals you'll ever meet.
