How to purchase the Great British Heritage Pass

What is Great British Heritage Pass?

The Great British Heritage Pass is a must for your Britain Visit! Britain boasts some of the richest history in the world, the abundance of magnificent, olde world properties throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are testament to this. With the Great British Heritage Pass you can visit them all – just buy an affordable one-off pass, and you will be granted free entry to over 580 UK heritage properties.

How you benefit from the Great British Heritage Pass?

Exclusive benefits of the Great British Heritage Pass include queue jumping at busy tourist attractions, a free map and guidebook, free entry at 580 heritage properties and almost £3,000 worth of value for as little as £2.25 per day – it doesn't get much better value than that!

Save Money

The Great British Heritage Pass offers free entry to more than 580 of Great Britain's most popular heritage sights, including properties under the care of National Trust, English Heritage, National Trust for Scotland, Historic Scotland, and Cadw.

You don't need to visit all of the attractions included on the pass in order to save money. In fact, visit just three properties and you've already started saving!

For example, with a 4-day tour, assume you will visit the following 4 attractions:
Day 1 [Dover Castle & Secret Wartime Tunnels] (Normal Adult Entry Cost - £13.90) Day 2 [Leeds Castle] (Normal Adult Entry Cost - £17.50) Day 3 [St Paul's Cathedral] (Normal Adult Entry Cost - £12.50) Day 4 [Roman Baths & Pump Room] (Normal Adult Entry Cost- £11.50)
What you would normally pay is £55.40. The cost of the 4-Day Great British Heritage Pass is only £45.00. Therefore, you can save £10.40 by using the Great British Heritage Pass. If you visit more attractions, you save more.

Save Time - Skipping the Queue

As well as free entry, the Great British Heritage Pass allows you to skip long and frustrating queues at the busiest tourist properties, including Blenheim Palace, Roman Baths & Pump Room, Stonehenge, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Shakespeare's Birthplace, and many more properties. Simply show the attendant your Great British Heritage Pass and you will be allowed entrance.

How it work?

The Great British Heritage Pass was established over 30 years ago by VisitBritain (formerly known as the British Tourist Authority). It is run by the Leisure Pass Group – a tourism specialist in creating and managing city smart card systems for sightseeing passes.
Now in its 33rd year, the Great British Heritage Pass offers free entry to more than 580 of Great Britain's most popular heritage sights. Smart card technology means pass holders can enjoy completely cashless entry to included properties – once you've bought your Great British Heritage Pass, you don't have to pay to get into any of the attractions covered by the pass. Your can check the full list of the properties and tourist attractions covered by the pass in the Great British Heritage Pass Website

The Great British Heritage Pass offers free entry to properties covered by the National Trust, English Heritage, The National Trust for Scotland, Historic Scotland, and Cadw, plus many more. It was created over 30 years ago by VisitBritain, and is available exclusively to the overseas international visitor.

For the first time in 2007, the Great British Heritage Pass will also be available as a convenient Family Pass. Families of two adults and up to three children, ages 5 to 15, will be able to enjoy the best of Britain's heritage using only one pass to enter over 580 properties around the UK.

Activating the Great British Heritage Pass

The smart card technology used by the Great British Heritage Pass includes a computer chip within the card itself. This chip records when and where you first use your pass, as well as how long the pass will remain valid for. What this means is that regardless of what start date you supply when you purchase the pass, your Great British Heritage Pass is activated the moment that you first use it, at the first property that you visit.

Your Great British Heritage Pass is then valid for the number of days that you purchased – be it 4, 7, 15, or 30 days. It is important to note that a ‘day' is based on a calendar day, so should you use your pass at 4 pm on Monday, Monday is counted as day one of your pass usage.
How much does the Great British Heritage Pass cost?
Adult Passes [normal price] 4 day pass -  £45.00 7 day pass -  £65.00 15 day pass -  £85.00 30 day pass -  £115.00

Family Passes (Entry for 2 adults & 3 children under 15yrs) [normal price] 4 day pass -  £99.00 7 day pass -  £143.00 15 day pass -  £187.00 30 day pass -  £253.00

A great tide of literary invention swept through Ireland between the 1890s and the 1920s. This engrossing, illuminating, and beautifully illustrated guidebook explores the personal and professional histories of writers such as W. B. Yeats, Lady Gregory, John Millington Synge, and Sean O’Casey and examines their relationships with the people, culture, and landscapes of Ireland. Ireland - Dublin & Beyond

Ireland - Dublin & Beyond

$6.99

With full-color maps and photos throughout, this guide is based on the 546-page Ireland Pocket Adventure Guide. It focuses on Dublin and its surroundings, but also contains an extensive introduction to travel in all parts of Ireland. Tells you everything about the food, from bacon & cabbage to Irish stew and black pudding, and the best places to get it. All about the thousands of historical sites to explore prehistoric stone circles, ruined castles, Ogham stones. Explores all the towns. Details all the outdoor activities, such as hill walking, golf, deep sea angling. Plus the best places to stay for all budgets, based on personal visits. Like other Adventure Guides, this shows you how to experience the country more intensely and directly than most travelers know how to do getting out of the tour bus, the taxi or the rental car and seeing the place close-up, through walks, bike rides, horseback excursions, culinary adventures, interacting with the people. The author, an Ireland native, is the Arts Editor and Book Editor at The Irish Examiner newspaper. Other guides to Ireland lack this level of detail, the outdoor adventure perspective and the emphasis on direct experience of the country. The native Irish resident author offers an insider s perspective that the other guides lack. Tina Neylon lives in County Cork and Ireland is her passion. As a freelance journalist, much of her work has been published in The Irish Examiner, where she has also served as the Books Editor. Her knowledge of the country is extensive and she's thrilled to write Hunter's Adventure Guide to Ireland. "Aiming at making the visitor a participant rather than just a spectator, the author succeeds admirably in her descriptions, from Ireland's pub life to its prehistoric sites, the spectacular Cliffs of Moher and kissing the Blarney Stone. Neylon takes us on a fabulous and thorough journey throughout this beautiful country. Where to stay is thoroughly researched, with choices from rentals to government-approved hostels, B&Bs and RV parks. The Irish author's book is a compilation of how best to enjoy the delights her country holds for visitors." --Edyth Shepard, Anton Community Newspapers. "Excellent choice. This travel series is one of the best . The book is very well detailed and user-friendly. It's well priced, too, and a great bargain. I consider a good guidebook essential when visiting a new place and I was thrilled with this one. The writer is from Ireland and the book is filled with her insider knowledge. The photos and maps are great, as are the driving instructions. If you buy one guidebook to Ireland, then get this one - it has everything you need to know!!!!" --A reader. "I had the chance to take a look at the sample chapter (Dublin) that's available on your website and I have to say I am very impressed with layout and detailed information. I have long been a fan of the Lonely Planet Guides, but I compared your Dub
